Girls’ Peace Academy

October 8, 2020

How do you make it clear to a larger audience which role girls must play to be frontline fighters for peace? How do you support these girls, empower them, inspire them and play an active role in building peace?

In this project, the organization Udruženje ‘’KAS’’ Banja Luka taught girls about different aspects of peace, such as peace activism and building peace. With this knowledge, the participating girls made approximately 1,000 peace postcards, which were sent to girls across Bosnia and Herzegovina. These postcards were used to inspire other girls to become frontline fighters for peace and peace building.

The project ‘Girls’ Peace Academy’ emphasized the importance of consistent youth activism during the COVID-19 pandemic, activism of girls, and peer-to-peer learning. The sending of a positive, inspirational message with peace, offers hope and places attention on the important role girls can have in this process.
